Cavallari and Cutler back in court over property division

Kansas readers may recall an earlier post on this blog that told of the child custody dispute reality TV star Kristin Cavallari and her estranged husband, former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler, have been trying to resolve. It seems the former couple is back in court. This time, they are fighting over property division issues, more specifically, whether Cavallari can use a portion of marital funds to purchase a new home for herself and her three children.

Cutler is adamantly against the idea. In fact, he reportedly ordered the former couple’s shared financial manager to withhold the funds upon Cavallari’s request to access them. Cutler told the court that he and Cavallari own several homes and are currently involved in purchasing a new multi-million dollar condominium. He stated that using marital funds to purchase another home would be unnecessary and frivolous on Cavallari’s part.

Cavallari disagrees. She has asked the court to grant permission for her to use the funds to buy a home. She said she started the search for a new home long before she and Culter announced their divorce. She paused the project at one point when the pair decided to try to restore their marriage. When it later became clear they were headed for divorce, she resumed her search.

Cavallari also told the court that Cutler refuses to leave the home where she and her children reside. She said he makes inappropriate comments in front of the kids, and she believes that buying a new home will help solve the problem. Kansas family law attorneys often help concerned spouses resolve property division issues as well as any other divorce-related matter that they are having difficulty settling.
